Throughout this unit of work, I have acquired new knowledge, facts and concepts that I can use throughout my life. This new knowledge and experience has, is, and will be a big impact on my life. During this unit of work, about WW2 and the Holocaust, I have learnt a wide range of things, ranging from major battles to conditions of concentration camps. All of this newly acquired knowledge has helped change my perspective on lots of concepts from WW2, such as how I used to believe that all Germans were bad guys until I learnt this unit of work which helped me realise that some Germans were anti-Nazi too. In addition to this, the newly gained knowledge, experience and wisdom has helped me understand the history of the world and how it got shaped today. It also helped me learn the Government systems back then, such as Fascism, which isn’t included in Australia. Furthermore, I have now gained a better understanding of the evolution of artillery, weapons, vehicles, uniforms, battle tactics, and more. For example, in WW2 they used to use heavy guns that took long to reload but now guns are light and have quicker reload speeds. Fortunately, all of this new information gained through the unit of work will not be forgotten because of one thing, a personal learning journal. From this unit of work, I noticed that keeping one of these is extremely valuable and useful in education. They can help you revise for exams, remind you of what you did and when, remind you of childhood activities during school, and maybe be given to future generations if they ever learn about WW2 and the Holocaust. To further strengthen my point of changing perspective, this unit of work has also taught me that, “History is written by the victors.” This saying that the teachers told us taught me that I should never only believe one perspective of a recount of an event, try and research other perspectives to get a better understanding. This unit of work has also made me really grateful for where we are today, living in a beautiful country, Australia, with a loving family, somewhere to live and no war. Learning about the conditions of war, I would definitely not want to be there and I learnt that we should be thankful for that. In class we commemorate the soldiers that went to war in WW2 that were from Marist because they are the reason we go to a Marist school and what they did was extremely brave. Learning about these Marist soldiers during this unit of work taught me to be respectful and to do homework to the best of ability to respect these soldiers. In conclusion, this unit of work has taught me many things, from perspectives, new information, life lessons, and others, it has truly been a great unit and a very educational one at that! 486 Words

In this project l have learnt much about World War 2, the Holocaust, the things that caused WWII, experiences and uniforms. WWII was the rise of Hitler. During WWII Germany and its allies Italy and Japan wanted to expand of its territory thus declaring war on other countries. The rise of new political parties was because of the unstable economy The Holocaust was a horrific event that over 6 millions Jews died overall. The main fabric on the German uniform was Heer, it kept them warm and was easy to produce as well as their cotton fabric armbands. The materials varied and the style of uniforms also varied from time to time with the constant shortage of many fabrics or the gain of resources. Nazi solders used camouflages suitable to their surroundings. They wore black and white with the area of birch trees. The M36 and the M40 tunics are not the actual name of the uniforms but only names given by modern collectors to identify the difference between Nazi soldier's uniforms. In this project l created an iBook talking about the development of Nazi German military uniform, l made a WWII German Panzer uniform and two headings on the website about the design process of how l made a Nazi uniform, and detailed information about the development of the other parts of WWII military German uniformThe materials varied and the style of uniforms from time to time with the constant shortage of many fabrics or the gain of resources. This project that we have been engaging our class in for the past term has been very stressful and involved a lot of organising and planning ahead. From this project I have learnt about the different German artillery used during the Second World War. I have also learnt that we have permission to make use of the new 3d printer in the LC for other future projects. This project has affected me by making me more prepared for the upcoming projects by being more prepared and organised since there will be upcoming challenges that will need more preparing to be successful in and get a satisfactory mark.
During the project I had to 3d print model tanks and other German artillery and also provide a detailed description of each model. Unfortunately the IT were not able to print the models because of technical difficulties. So it was overcome by printing out images of the artillery instead. This project was actually very fun and interesting to work on since it provided a lot of interaction and teamwork was needed to make the final product for the project. For the model descriptions i had added a QR code that had linked to a page that went into a deeper explanation about the certain model. the QR codes had to be cut out since it did not fit on the black cardboard.

In this project i have learnt many things about world war 2 including the cause of it, which was the great depression and unresolved tensions from world war 1. This caused the rise of hitler, Hitler believed in the master race. Hitler allied with japan and italy because japan wanted to expand their territories. The holocaust was a terrible time in which millions of jews were killed. Many people who survived to tell their tales say that they had to work hard labour for over 17 hours a day. They were treated like dirt and were hardly fed or given any drink. History is very biased towards WWII because we often do not even realise that a lot of german soldiers did not support hitler and were forced to fight and had their families threatened if they didn't fight. Many other soldiers were tricked by clever propaganda schemes, German soldiers faced death ,disease and defeat on a daily basis. This project has really changed my perspective on the experiences of all parties during world war 2 especially not just on the allied forces side but the axis as well.
